High days and Holy days
The choir enjoys taking part in many of the most important services in the year. These include most of the Holy Week services and include a moving stations of the cross service, ‘The Way of the Cross’. Other services include Ascension and All Saints day. The choir performs an Advent Carol Service and Nine Lessons and Carols.
Weddings and funerals
The choir and organ often feature in All Saints weddings and equally can lend poignancy and meaning to services for the departed.
Saints Aloud are an energetic and dynamic Children’s choir led by Chrissie O’Neal and Bee Cassidy. who feature frequently in Sunday Services throughout the year.
Life in the All Saints Choir
The choir embrace their role with a winning combination of commitment and a sense of fun. Rehearsals take place every Friday at 7:30 pm until 9:00 pm.
They have a good core repertoire of music, but equally, like to embrace new and unfamiliar pieces. Being a member of the choir is a fantastic way to develop a skill and simultaneously, become a core part of worship in the church. As well as the Sunday Choral Eucharist and a monthly Choral Evensong, there are lots of opportunities to work on special services in the church calendar. The choir particularly enjoy the Advent Carol Service and the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols which embody the true and exciting spiritual journey through Advent into Christmas. Equally, the choir really appreciate an earnest contribution to Holy Week services and this year gave its first performance of ‘The Way of the Cross’, a sequence of readings and music that illustrate the Passion of Christ. This is to become a regular fixture in the church calendar.
Occasionally, the choir (and friends) hold charity concerts, which give the opportunity to perform non-liturgical music such as opera or show songs.
Being a member of the choir is a social and satisfying experience and we are always looking for new members in every voice part. If you are at all interested in joining, or have any questions, please feel free to email the Choir Master, Nigel Cassidy, at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
